The BIG Living Well Discovery Day 2017
On Monday 10th July, Dorset Living Well and Active is hosting its third BIG Living Well Discovery Day specifically to empower people living with and beyond cancer for health, fitness and wellbeing.

This event is part of the Bournemouth University Festival of Learning 2017 and will offer an exciting blend of:
  • Expert Talks on ways you can improve your potential to live well with and beyond cancer.
  • Health, activity and support Information stands in our Living Well Supermarket.
 The event is free to attend for people living in Dorset with a cancer diagnosis and will take place in the superb  Kimmeridge House at Talbot Campus, Bournemouth University.

 Once you have registered, we'll keep you updated with the content for The Day  so that you can get the most benefit from your day with us.

BIG Living Well Discovery Day 2017 - Associates

 We are pleased to announce that our 2017 BIG Living Well Discovery Day is now confirmed for Monday 10th July 2017 and will be held at Kimmeridge House, Talbot Campus, Bournemouth University.   

As in our two previous years, this event will offer a unique and exciting blend of speakers, promotional and skills development opportunities, connection to 200+ attendees (that's our aim!), and networking with 30+ organisations with a shared interest in improving the lives of people living with and beyond cancer.

AFC Bournemouth Healthy Essentials Event

INTRODUCTION:

This event is provided for patients who have received an invitation letter from Dorset Testicular Cancer Service.
 
Dorset Testicular Cancer Service, Dorset Cancer Care Foundation, AFC Bournemouth, Macmillan Living Well Active, Bournemouth University and Active Dorset , are delighted to provide this event for invited patients, who have recently been diagnosed with testicular cancer.

The event will take place in the afternoon of 21st February 2017 and will be held at Bournemouth AFC Stadium. The event is completely free and has been put together to provide additional support, information and education following your diagnosis of testicular cancer.

 Following a welcome lunch, the event will be run by the Dorset Testicular Cancer team and the Living Well and Active team. 

 This event will allow you to better understand the disease, its treatment and follow up, provide you with some additional support and information to help in your recovery and help to promote an active and healthy lifestyle for the future.

PROGRAMME:

Welcome lunch with club chairman Jeff Mostyn

12:45PM: CLUB STADIUM TOUR

 1:15PM: TRAINING SESSION 1: CLINICAL SUPPORT TEAM

  • Understand what testicular cancer is. 

  • Why follow up is important.

  • Importance of taking responsibility to self manage.

  • Side effects of treatment.

  • Self examination.

  • Recognising symptoms of occurance.

  • Addressing anxieties.

 2:15PM: HALF TIME AND REFRESHMENTS

 2:30PM: TRAINING SESSION 2: LIVING WELL TEAM

  • Strength conditioning for the mind.
